Parole sparse
for violin and orchestra (2020)
Programme Note
I began to associate my filmmaking experiences with my two recent composition works. In <Rituel au tombeau d'Isang Yun> for a large ensemble, I transformed Korean funeral ritual scenes into music and unfolded them in multi episodes in the global form. In an electroacoustic piece <Suicidal Impulse>, by transforming recorded voice and texts, I wanted to create a narrative or story around a figure which makes the texts ambiguous and constantly changes its faces. <Parole sparse> was born in the same root with these two works. The ensemble, itself being as one figure, attempts to deliver a certain narrative composed in different episodes linguistically. The text inspired by Alda Merini's poem Spazio (spazio, io voglio tanto spazio) has been ambiguated by divisions and dissipations of the words.
